Teacher’s Pet
All artwork by Primary School Students. Animated and Co-Directed by me.

This short animated film was a collaboration between Delkaia Aboriginal Best Start and thirteen Koorie students from Dimboola Primary School from Prep to Grade 6. I animated the film and co-directed with the wonderfully talented filmmaker Tracey Rigney, who also wrote the story.
The students were heavily involved in the film supplying all the artwork, voices and even photographing the school to be used as backgrounds in the film.
The story incorporates Dimboola Primary School’s values which are honesty, respect, resilience and tolerance. It also focuses on the You Can Do It Foundations – confidence, persistence, getting along, organisation and resilience which Dimboola Primary School values and uses. Nature, animals and local landscapes are a major focus also, with the story revolving around the central point of Dimboola Primary School.
Teacher’s Pet premiered at the Little Big Shots Film Festival in 2015, was a finalist in the Best Primary School Animation category at the 2015 ATOM Awards, won the Blackfella Films Award for Best Indigenous Film by a Child at Kidzflicks, Sydney International Festival of Films by Children 2016 and won Best Primary School Production at Flickerfest 2016.
